DescriptionOnce the land of the Shawnee, Bainbridge was founded in 1805 by surveyor Nathaniel Massie, a wealthy landowner from Chillicothe. This rural trade center became known as the “cradle of American dentistry” after the profession's first school was established by Dr. John Harris in 1827.
Two scenic routes to Bainbridge are US 50 from the east and SR 41 from the south. The town is in the Appalachian plateau, and nearby Pike Lake State Park offers a variety of recreational opportunities for summer and winter outdoor enthusiasts.
