DescriptionBedford was named for a county in Tennessee, the original home of many of its early settlers. A general store and gristmill built by Weldon Bobo in the 1870s established the town as a gathering place for area farmers. The 62-acre Bedford Boys Ranch, a home for wayward boys, opened in 1949. The ranch is now a city park and aquatic center.
