DescriptionAn early stagecoach stop founded in 1808, Boalsburg has retained much of its original architecture and street layout.
Boalsburg lays claim as the site of the original Memorial Day, after a group of women honored those who died during the Civil War during a ceremony in 1864. Warrenton, Va., Charleston, S.C. and Savannah, Ga. also claim that they were the first to begin the holiday to honor soldiers who died in battle.
ShoppingThe Village of Boalsburg offers taverns and quaint shops filled with antiques, art, flowers, crafts, gifts and collectibles. Many of the shops are in historic houses.
