Established in 1852 as a supply center for Fort Clark, Brackettville became a trade center as the region filled with ranches and farms. This historic fort has been transformed into a resort with many of its original buildings serving as lodges and residences. During the 1950s the Brackettville area served as the setting for a handful of Hollywood films, including the John Wayne epic “The Alamo.”
