DescriptionBragg Creek, 40 kilometres (25 mi.) southwest of Calgary on Hwy. 22, was named after Albert Bragg, a rancher who settled in the area in 1894. Known as the “Gateway to the Kananaskis” for its proximity to the Northern Rockies, the town has been a popular weekend getaway and year-round recreation area since the 1920s. Bragg Creek offers picnic areas, hiking trails, cross-country skiing, campgrounds and scenic Elbow Falls. The area has evolved as an artist's community with sculptors, potters, weavers, painters and other artisans practicing their crafts.
