Approximately at the geographic center of Cape Cod on SR 6A, Brewster is the setting of stately early 19th-century homes built by the sea captains who dominated the town's initial economy. The city offers antique shops, art galleries and museums that lure summer visitors to Cape Cod Bay. The Old Gristmill on Stoney Brook Road is one of the country's first gristmills.

You'll have no trouble finding a one-of-a-kind gift for that special someone at Lemon Tree Village Shops . The quaint shopping stop off SR 6A contains about a dozen independently owned stores. Merchants sell everything from handmade Native American pottery to jewelry with a Latin flair. Cape Cod-themed artwork, home decor and clothing also are available for purchase.

Pay the $5 cover, crack open a PBR and join the energetic crowd dancing up a storm inside The Woodshed (1993 Main St.), a cramped, no-frills bar offering live music 7 nights a week. Cash only. Phone (508) 896-7771.
