DescriptionOn the Columbia River several miles above its confluence with the Okanogan, Bridgeport began as a wheat shipping point in the late 1800s. Apples are now the area's prime agricultural product. Massive Chief Joseph Dam impounds the Columbia just east of town. Bridgeport State Park, northeast of town, offers water-based activities on Rufus Woods Lake, camping and golf.
