DescriptionA farming and manufacturing community in the heart of the LaHave River Valley, the town was founded in the early 1800s and was named for the bridge spanning the river. Picturesque drives follow both banks. As an active waterway for commercial and pleasure craft, the river contributes to Bridgewater's importance as a regional economic center.
Shipyards Landing Park offers boat ramps and scenic vistas. The Bridgewater Woodland Gardens contain winding trails punctuated by azaleas and rhododendrons. The gardens also contain a large pond and picnic tables. The town's 8-kilometre (4.8 mi.) Centennial Trail is a hiking and bicycling path that meanders through woods and along the LaHave River.
