Caliente, named for the hot springs originally found in the area, is near several state parks, including Beaver Dam, Cathedral Gorge, Echo Canyon, Spring Valley and Kershaw-Ryan. Also nearby is the ghost town of Delamar, marked by a few stone buildings, mill ruins and a cemetery; check locally for road conditions.
A mural displaying points of interest in Lincoln and Clark counties is in the former Amtrak waiting room of the Caliente Railroad Station, a Spanish-style depot built in 1923. The Lincoln County Art Room is also in the station lobby.
