DescriptionFounded in the mid-1800s, Cambridge has long been a popular vacation spot for Chicagoans and other city dwellers lured to the spring-fed waters of nearby Lake Ripley. Ripley Park, on the lake's western shore at N4310 Park Rd., encompasses sandy beaches and a swimming area. The Cambridge area also is popular with cross-country skiers and hikers. The Glacial Drumlin State Trail, which follows the path of the 19th-century Chicago & Northwestern Railway, provides a winding, 52-mile-long scenic trail for bicyclists and joggers; phone (920) 648-8774. Hiking and mountain biking trails, canoeing and picnicking are available.
Cambridge is noted for its pottery, antiques and artwork displayed in historic buildings along its Victorian-style Main Street.
