Named for an officer who fought in the Crimean War, Campbellford serves as the center of a rich dairying district. Ferris Provincial Park is on the outskirts of town.
Fish and game abound in the region. The Rotary Trail, a 5-kilometre (2-mi.) walk, takes hikers around the Trent-Severn Canal. Boats can dock overnight at Old Mill Park on the Trent River. A series of three locks on the Trent Canal, 13 kilometres (8 mi.) north of town, bypass Healy Falls.
The Westben Arts Festival Theatre, 3 kilometres (1.8 mi.) north, presents concerts and musical plays in a reconstructed barn; phone (705) 653-5508 or (877) 883-5777. Local produce can be found at a farmers market held every Wednesday and Saturday 8 to noon, early May through October; the location of the market is at River and Front streets; phone (705) 475-9435.
