DescriptionThe forests and sand dunes of nearby Spruce Woods Provincial Park inspired many of the works of artist, naturalist and writer Ernest Thompson Seton, including his stories “The Trail of the Sandhill Stag” and “Wild Animals I Have Known.” He was appointed naturalist to the Manitoba government in 1892. A small highway park 15 kilometres (9 mi.) east of Carberry on Hwy. 1 has been dedicated to Seton.
