DescriptionThat several locally made beverages have attained critical acclaim is credited to the purity of Chippewa Falls' ground water. Premium Waters, Inc./Chippewa Spring Water, which still operates today, was founded in 1880 by Thaddeus Pound—former Wisconsin lieutenant governor and grandfather of poet Ezra Pound.
Impounded by the Chippewa Falls dam, Lake Wissota provides fishing and other recreational activities. Lake Wissota State Park is on the east shore. At Chippewa Rose Society's Marshall Park Rose Garden, Jefferson Avenue and Bridgewater, see a beautiful collection of more than 500 roses, including teas, floribunda, grandifloras, miniatures and climbers. If you're interested in hiking or bicycling, try out the paved 19.5-mile Old Abe State Trail or the 5-mile Duncan Creek Trail.
