Description
When exiled Acadians returned to Nova Scotia to find their homeland occupied, many accepted the British government's offer of 67-hectare (40-acre) lots along St. Mary's Bay, which became known as the “French Shore.” In 1891 the Université Sainte-Anne was founded at Pointe de l'Eglise (Church Point) to preserve Acadian culture; it remains the only French-language university in the province.
