DescriptionOn June 6, 1613, French explorer Samuel de Champlain lost his astrolabe, an instrument used to determine the altitude of celestial bodies. In 1857 the 13-centimetre (5-in.) tool was found by a boy digging at the present site of Logos Land Resort. A sign on Hwy. 17 recounts the story of the astrolabe.
