Coolin is the headquarters for the Priest Lake resort area. Priest Lake, with its 80-mile shoreline, is known for its big Mackinaw trout. The 25-mile-long lake is linked with smaller Upper Priest Lake via a channel called The Thorofare. Of the lake's seven islands, Kalispell, Bartoo, Four Mile and Eight Mile islands are available for camping.
The Roosevelt Grove of Ancient Cedars, a virgin forest, is on the west side of Priest Lake, 13 miles northwest of Nordman via FR 302 in Washington. Priest Lake State Park, on the east shore of Priest Lake, offers trails through cedar-hemlock forests.
