DescriptionFirst settled in 1700, Coventry was incorporated in 1711. This rolling region once produced livestock for the West India trade. Another local product was the Morgan pacing horse; bred for stamina, a Morgan could make the 72-mile trek to Boston in one day and return the next.
ShoppingDowntown Coventry offers a variety of antique and specialty shops. Special Joys Antique Doll Shop, 41 N. River Rd., sells stuffed animals, dolls and doll clothes, teddy bears, toys, kitchen miniatures and collectibles. The Coventry Country Store, 1140 Main St., stocks a true mishmash—everything from antiques and vintage linens to penny candy and local favorite Hosmer's Mountain soda.
