DescriptionDulce is the capital and principal town of Jicarilla Apache Indian Reservation. The Jicarillas (hek-a-REH-yas), whose name means “little baskets,” are renowned for woven baskets and other ornate craftwork. Visitors may watch artisans at work at the Jicarilla Arts and Crafts Museum on the reservation.
The town, at the northeastern corner of the reservation, is a popular provision point with hunters and anglers. The 14,500-acre Horse Lake Mesa Game Park is one of the country's largest elk enclosures.
