DescriptionOriginally known as Little Falls, Fergus was renamed for its Scottish founder, Adam Fergusson. Scottish architectural tradition is evident in many 19th-century buildings made of local limestone. Examples include the tannery and gristmill, the Beatty foundry and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Recreational activities attract those interested in hiking, bicycling, fly-fishing and water sports, such as canoeing on the Grand River.
Templin Gardens is a restored traditional English garden in the center of town. Additional places of diversion are Fergus Market and the local craft shops. The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games, held the second weekend in August, features Scottish culture, music, dancing, pipes and drums.
