DescriptionAt 100 Bluff St. overlooking the Chattahoochee River is Fort Gaines Frontier Village, an open-air museum with log cabins, a cane mill, a smokehouse and a Civil War cannon. A partial replica of the 1814 frontier fort and a pioneer cemetery are nearby.

Also in the area is Lake Walter F. George. The 3-mile-long Walter George Dam has a lock with what is purported to be one of the highest lifts in the world.
