Greenville, at the south end of Moosehead Lake, is in an area noted for a variety of year-round recreational activities. Swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, seaplane tours and white-water rafting are pursued in summer. Hunting for deer, bears, moose and partridges is available in the fall; cross-country and downhill skiing and snowmobiling are enjoyed in winter.
Several cruises and a shuttle service are available to Mount Kineo, a historic Native American gathering place in Moosehead Lake. Visitors to the peninsula can enjoy hiking trails and a pebble beach.
