DescriptionPrimarily a farming community, Gretna was established in 1887. The town's placement was determined by the building of a railroad station, which promoted the development of business and commerce.
South of town on the banks of the Platte River is Schramm Park State Recreation Area, a 337-acre park that includes trails for nature walks and cross-country skiing, a fish hatchery museum, an aquarium, waterfowl and geology displays.
