DescriptionOn Lake Melville in south-central Labrador, Happy Valley-Goose Bay occupies an area known for some of the best fishing in the province. It is accessible by air or boat from Newfoundland.
The area features a variety of trails allowing for such activities as biking and skiing throughout the year. The Happy Valley-Goose Bay Biking and Walking Trail commences in Happy Valley at the lower end of Hamilton River Road and culminates at the Industrial Park on the Canadian side. Birch Brook Nordic Ski Club and Hiking Trails, on Rte. 520 between Goose Bay and North West River, offers 11 groomed trails ranging in length from .5 to 10.4 km. The trails are fit for walking in summer and are arranged for skiing from December through April; phone (709) 896-8560.
In early August the Labrador Canoe Regatta is held on Gosling Lake; music and a strongman competition complete the adrenaline-filled experience.
