Northwest of Tucson 25 miles via I-10 to Avra Valley Road, Ironwood Forest National Monument contains the highest density of ironwood trees in the Sonoran Desert. The diverse ironwood provides food and shelter for a variety of wildlife, including desert bighorn sheep, tortoises and hawks.
