DescriptionA historic port town on the Des Moines River, Keosauqua has many Georgian and Greek Revival structures. One noteworthy late 19th-century residence is the home of Edwin Manning, a town founder. The hotel he built in 1899 to overlook the river is an example of Steamboat Gothic architecture. Also of interest is the courthouse completed in 1840.
