Nicknamed “The Buckle of the Wheat Belt,” Kingfisher is among the largest wheat markets in the world. The town was founded during the land run of 1889 and was named after a cattleman called King Fisher, who operated a stagecoach station and line. The Chisholm Trail passed through the area.
