DescriptionEstablished as a frontier railroad town in 1883, LaMoure became a busy trade center for the many dairy and livestock farms in the surrounding countryside. The town is named for Judson LaMoure, one of North Dakota's powerful early politicians.
LaMoure Lake, 5 miles south of town on CR 60, offers excellent fishing for walleye, pike and bass. Camping is available at the lake and at LaMoure Dam, at the west edge of town on the James River.
