DescriptionNa-Nex-Se, the wife of a Shawnee Indian chief, lent her name to the Kansas City suburb of Lenexa in 1869. The community attracted German, Swiss and Belgian farmers by the early 1900s, and in the 1930s was known for its prolific spinach crops.
Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Rd., has one of the largest lakes in the area and offers archery, fishing, hiking trails, horseback riding trails, sailboats and canoes, swimming, tennis, water skiing and windsurfing.
