DescriptionOriginally called Mutterscholz by the German settlers who founded the area in the early 1800s, Long Grove began as a small farming community. Today a Historic Landmark Ordinance guarantees the preservation of all the historic structures in the area—any new facades must conform to the architecture of the early 1800s. Visitors enjoy the town’s popular food festivals, such as the Chocolate Fest in early May, the Long Grove Summer Fest in late June and the Apple Fest in late September.
