DescriptionFormerly the midpoint of a steamboat route, Magnetawan's hand-operated dam and lock still serve pleasure boats. A painting by A.J. Casson, who was a member of the renowned Group of Seven, depicts the town's St. George the Martyr Anglican Church as “The Church on the Rock.” The painting is exhibited at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa.

The resort also has information about a driving tour of the Ontario Ghost Trail (Nipissing Road). The ghost trail, part of the Trans Canada Trail, is lined with the abandoned cabins and barns of pioneer settlers; 23 plaques mark historical sites along the route.
