DescriptionA short distance from Valley Forge National Historical Park near the junction of US 76 and 276 is the rustic Wharton Esherick Studio . Esherick, known as the “dean of American craftsmen” worked here until his death in 1970. Displayed are more than 200 of his pieces, including paintings, woodcuts, ceramics, sculpture, furniture and utensils. Guided studio tours are available. Just west of Paoli in Malvern at the junction of Monument and Wayne avenues is Paoli Battlefield Historic Site , the scene of the Battle of Paoli during the American Revolution. The grounds contain plaques describing the massacre. The oldest monument on the grounds dates to 1817. The site is open daily dawn to dusk; phone (484) 320-7173.
