Pocahontas, a historic river port town, overlooks the once traffic-laden Black River. The Old Randolph County Courthouse, an 1872 brick Victorian structure, is in the town square; a 4-foot meteorite that fell nearby in 1859 rests across the street on the lawn of the current courthouse. With five different rivers running through the county, boating and fishing for bream, crappie and bass are popular activities.
