DescriptionThe Wyeth family of painters summered in Port Clyde for years; it was here that a teenage Andrew began exploring the medium of watercolor. The town's stunning coastal scenery inspired many of the polychrome land- and seascape paintings presented at his first solo exhibition, which drew a sellout crowd to a New York City gallery in 1937. Port Clyde also is the summer home of Chief Justice John Roberts.
Passenger service is available from Port Clyde to the getaway oasis of Monhegan Island courtesy of Monhegan Boat Line. The 11-mile excursion to the island passes through the scenic Wyeth Islands.
