DescriptionSettled in 1886, Rugby is in an agricultural region noted for its dairy products, poultry, livestock and grain. Within town is the geographical center of North America, marked by a fieldstone cairn.
Inspired by the aurora borealis, Northern Lights Tower is an 88-foot-high steel monument coated with multi-colored metallic paint. The sculpture is located east of the geographical center marker, adjacent to Prairie Village Museum. The hand-painted scenes of North Dakota inside the dome of the Pierce County Courthouse, 240 S.E. 2nd St., are worth a look as well.
