Evolving from a mill built on the Shenango River in 1802, Sharon is an industrial city that was founded on steel products. Frank H. Buhl, known as the father of industrial Shenango Valley, built a Romanesque castle in 1890 as a wedding present to his wife. One hundred years later the home was purchased and restored by Jim and Donna Winner. Buhl Mansion now operates as a luxury bed and breakfast and spa. Tours of the mansion, which showcases quality reproductions of works by some of the art world's greats, are available by appointment; phone (724) 346-3046.
