DescriptionResembling an alpine village, Silver Gate is said to be the only municipality in the nation whose building codes mandate that all structures be made of logs and other materials native to the area.
The town is at the northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park; nearby Cooke City also has access to the park. Silver Gate is an outfitting center for both cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Fly fishing is excellent in nearby lakes and streams.
