DescriptionSince pioneer days Soda Springs has been known for its 30 mineral salt springs. Early trappers called Hooper Spring, a mile north of town, “Beer Spring” because of its natural soda water, which visitors can sample today.
Nearby Captive Geyser is a carbon dioxide geyser controlled to erupt hourly, winds permitting. Foot-deep wagon ruts from the Old Oregon Trail that date from the mid-1800s provide an unusual hazard on the local golf course. The Pioneer Museum downtown displays mementos reflecting area history.
