DescriptionSpringer was named for Frank Springer, who came to New Mexico from Iowa in 1873, settled in Cimarron and became a prominent lawyer and paleontologist. His legacy is the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe, of which he was a founder.
The Santa Fe Trail Interpretive Center & Museum, housed in the old county courthouse at 614 Maxwell Ave., displays household items, clothing, period furniture and the only electric chair ever put to use in New Mexico to carry out the death penalty.
