DescriptionStuart is known by boating enthusiasts as the eastern terminus of the Okeechobee Waterway, which crosses the state to the Gulf of Mexico. Fishing is excellent in nearby Indian River as well as in the Gulf Stream about 10 miles offshore, where larger species, especially sailfish, are caught.
