DescriptionA riverfront lookout in Devon Park at The Pas (pronounced “the paw”) honors travelers of the Saskatchewan River including Henry Kelsey, the first known European to see the northern prairies in 1691. It is rumored that the first wheat on the prairies was planted in the area in 1734.
Christ Church (Anglican), on Edwards Avenue, was founded in 1840 by Henry Budd, the first Native American ordained to the Anglican ministry. The church contains hand-hewn furnishings made by ships' carpenters in 1847. Tours are offered by appointment; phone (204) 623-2119.
