DescriptionThe lumbering industry took hold in Thessalon in the latter part of the 19th century due to the availability of natural resources. The town, incorporated in 1892, at one time supported six lumber companies whose products included pulpwood, veneer and hardboards.
Recreational activities available in the area include fishing and boating on Lake Huron and area lakes, hiking and bird-watching. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
