DescriptionTunica was a cotton-producing center for more than a century, but when casinos opened on the banks of the Mississippi River in 1992 in nearby Tunica Resorts, much of the area's main tourism moved there.
Veteran's Memorial Park, downtown at the south end of Main street, commemorates soldiers in all branches of military service and salutes those who gave their lives in past wars and the 9/11 attack. A circular terrace in the middle of the park features a bronze statue of three soldiers, and benches scattered throughout the landscaped park invite quiet reflection. Recreational opportunities in the surrounding area include golf, tennis, fishing, hunting and water sports.
ShoppingSpecialty, boutique and antique shops are along Main Street in downtown Tunica.
