DescriptionKnown as the “City of Sculpture,” Waupun is home to an outdoor sculpture gallery with pieces located throughout the city in parks or parklike settings. Statues that have been presented to the city by local industrialist Clarence Shaler include the first bronze casting of James Earl Fraser's “End of the Trail,” given to the city in 1929. “The Recording Angel,” by Lorado Taft, stands in the Forest Mound Cemetery.
Shaler himself was a sculptor; some of his works include “Dawn of Day” on the City Hall terrace, “The Pioneers” in Wilcox Park and “Doe and Fawn” at Rock River Country Club. Others include “Who Sows Believes in God” and “The Citadel” as well as two of his other sculptures found on the campus of Ripon College in Ripon.
