DescriptionNoah Webster was born in West Hartford in 1758. His first small dictionary of the American language (as distinguished from the British) appeared in 1806; the large version in 1828. A 13.5-foot statue of the lexicographer sculpted by Korczak Ziolkowski stands in front of the West Hartford Public Library.
A 1912 Pope-Hartford Model 28 Roadster is permanently displayed in the AAA Automobile Club of Hartford's West Hartford office at 815 Farmington Ave.; phone (860) 236-3261. The display exemplifies the area's contribution to the advancement of automotive development in the early 1900s.
