DescriptionEarly settlers allegedly named this former logging town for the famous firearm. A replica of a Winchester rifle hangs above Main Street. Winchester Lake State Park, just south on US 95 Bus. Rte., occupies the site of the 1910 Craig Mountain Lumber Co., whose 103-acre millpond is today the centerpiece of the park. Remains of the mill can be seen on the hill near the city water tower.
