Wolfville was resettled by New Englanders following the expulsion of the Acadians in 1755. It is the home of Acadia University, founded in 1838 by the Nova Scotia Baptist Educational Society.
The closest town to Grand Pré, Wolfville is a popular base for exploring the historic region associated with the Acadian deportation. Several old Acadian settlements lie along the Gaspereau River and are accessible from Gaspereau Avenue in town.
