Description
Located on the Sammamish River, Woodinville takes its name from pioneer Ira Woodin, who settled here in 1871. In the surrounding area is the largest collection of wineries in western Washington, at last count numbering more than 100. Most have tasting rooms. For additional information contact Woodinville Wine Country; phone (425) 205-4394.
Molbak's, 13625 N.E. 175th St., is one of the largest nurseries in the state. Annuals, perennials, vegetables and herbs are all grown on the nursery's own farm. Stimulate your green thumb with a leisurely stroll through their conservatory of tropical plants. Special events from plant seminars to harvest festivals take place regularly; for details phone (425) 483-5000 or (866) 466-5225. For more strenuous exercise, the 12-mile Sammamish River Trail, a popular bicycling route, links Woodinville with Lake Washington and Redmond.
