DescriptionThe town of Wye Mills grew up around Old Wye Mill, which produced flour for George Washington's troops at Valley Forge. The restored mill continues to operate Mon.-Sat. 10-4 and Sun. 1-4, early May to mid-Nov. and grinds and sells flour the first and third Saturday of the month. The mill is staffed by volunteers, so visitors should phone ahead to confirm availability; (410) 827-3850. Wye Church, a quarter-mile south of Wye Mills on SR 662, is a restored Colonial structure with a hanging pulpit and box pews. A reconstructed vestry house furnished in period and a parish house built in the 18th-century style are nearby.
