AAA Editor Notes
Romney Manor is on Old Road. On the grounds of this 17th-century plantation are lush botanical gardens, sugar mill ruins, a 350-year-old saman tree, Carib Indian rock drawings and a rain forest. The adjoining estate, Wingfield, is said to have belonged to an ancestor of Thomas Jefferson. The Earls of Romney owned the property 1713-1819. Wild tobacco grows in the ruins, though the plant hasn't been cultivated in 400 years. At Caribelle Batik, situated in the remains of the Romney great house, visitors can watch a demonstration of the batik process.

Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
