Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, 625 C St., has exhibits focusing on the art, history, science and cultures of Alaska and the Circumpolar North. The state-of-the-art Smithsonian Arctic Studies Center has multimedia exhibits and displays more than 600 Alaska Native artifacts. Contemporary Alaska Native artists blend traditional and contemporary techniques to examine what it means to be an Alaska Native today.

The interactive Discovery Center offers exhibits that explore nature, science and technology, including a marine wildlife area, reptile exhibits and a bubble lab. Spark!Lab Smithsonian allows kids and families to create, innovate, collaborate and problem-solve.

The Alaska exhibit reflects essential aspects of the state's history organized in 15 themed areas. Housed in the Rasmuson Wing, the Art of the North explores life in the region through paintings, sculpture, photography, video and other media. Other highlights include the Thomas Planetarium and traveling exhibitions.
